For over 23 years The Learning Council has been serving the North Fork Valley with alternative educational opportunities, nourishing food from local farms, and advocacy for social and reproductive justice -- and all through the gift model.
Now the Learning Council has a proper home at 138 Grand Ave thanks to grant funding! How apropos that this building was the original Paonia Public Library until it became Ollie's Ice Cream and Refinery a little over ten years ago. Fear not! There will still be a teen-led ice cream shop... and stacks of books in the Diversity Library.
The kitchen will continue to create, educate, and serve community meals. The large classroom will offer courses in health, music, visual and performing arts, agriculture, social and environmental justice, and more.
Don't forget the bike co-op! The list goes on, and it will be a safe space for kids and available to all.
